# Live Radio

Live, synced radio stations with music, live voice broadcasts and podcasts.

**Live Radio** (`ace_liveradio`) is a full radio system for FiveM. Players host their own station, queue music, go live on the mic or run a multi-guest podcast, and everyone in range tunes in from their vehicle, on foot with headphones, or from a placed boombox or DJ deck. Playback is timed by the server, so every listener hears the same moment of the song.

## Features

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Stations" %}

* Host a station on any open frequency, or on a frequency **reserved** for one player
* Every station has a name, genre (from `Config.StationGenres`) and description, shown in the station list and searchable
* **Local**, **Regional** or **Global** broadcast range, checked against each listener's distance to the host
* **Permanent server stations**: looping music playlists or always-on open-mic podcasts, defined in `config.lua`
* Player stations, host bans and ratings are saved and survive restarts. Abandoned stations are auto-removed after `Config.RemoveAbandonedStationsAfterDays` (14 by default)
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Music & voice" %}

* Queue, play, pause, reorder, shuffle and remove tracks, or import a whole **YouTube playlist**
* Server-timed playback — every listener hears the same moment of the song, even joining mid-track
* **Live Voice** from the music screen with a live microphone meter
* Multi-guest **Podcast Mode**: request, approve, mute, kick
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Listening" %}

* **Shared car radio**: the driver picks the station, everyone inside hears it, and people nearby hear it too (louder with a door or roof open)
* Optional **headphones** to listen on foot, with or without an inventory item
* Optional **boombox**: place it, tune it, and everyone nearby hears the music
* Optional **DJ deck** for parties: much louder and further-reaching than a boombox, with up to 2 synced speakers
* Station ratings, favorites, search and a floating mini player
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Community & admin" %}

* **Station community**: chat with reactions, song requests, pinned host posts, station badges (Host, Mod, DJ, VIP) and moderation
* **Admin panel**: view every station, remove stations, stop broadcasts, kick listeners, ban/unban hosts (timed or permanent)
* Discord webhook logging
* Server and client **exports and events** for other resources
  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

## Realism features

Each one is switchable in `config.lua`:

| Feature                | What it does                                                                                                |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Signal fade** | Music fades, static and dropouts creep in near the edge of a station's range, and reception weakens indoors |
| **Music ducking** | Music keeps playing under Live Voice/Podcast broadcasts and dips automatically while someone talks |
| **One-way broadcasts** | Listeners hear the host and guests but can't talk back |

See [Listening Modes](/docs/roleplay/live-radio/listening-modes.md) for how these work in practice.
