# Troubleshooting & FAQ

Common problems and questions for ace\_serialscratch.

## Troubleshooting

<details>

<summary>Using an item does nothing</summary>

* Check the start order: `ox_lib` → `ace_serialscratch` → `ox_inventory`.
* The folder must be named `ace_serialscratch`.
* The items must use `server.export`, **not** `client.export`, exactly as shown in [Installation](/docs/inventory-and-items/serial-scratcher/installation.md#add-the-items).

</details>

<details>

<summary>"You need to be holding a weapon to use this item!"</summary>

Equip the weapon first, then use the item. The items have `allowArmed = true` so they can be used while armed.

</details>

<details>

<summary>"The serial is already wiped." / "The serial is already partially scratched."</summary>

The weapon has already been tampered with at that level.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Logs aren't arriving in Discord</summary>

Check that `LogActions = true` and that `webhookURL` is a valid Discord webhook URL, not the `PutYourWebHookLinkHere` placeholder.

</details>

<details>

<summary>The clear command doesn't work</summary>

Set `ClearDatabaseCommandEnabled = true` and run the command from the **server console**, not in-game.

</details>

## FAQ

<details>

<summary>Can a fully wiped serial be restored?</summary>

The forensics tool has a dedicated response for this: *"Due to the damage done to the serial number, it cannot be restored."* A partially scratched serial can be restored through the minigame.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where is the data stored?</summary>

In `ace_serialscratch/storage/scratched_weapons.json`. No SQL database is used.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Does it work without ox_inventory?</summary>

No. The resource requires ox\_inventory. The items use ox\_inventory server exports, and `InventoryExport` points to `exports.ox_inventory`.
